Travel alert for Utah highways with snow looming

Transportation officials say heavy snow is also forecast for Tuesday along Interstate 40 between Daniels Summit and the Colorado border and on U.S. Highway 6 near Soldier Summit.

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Transportation has issued a travel alert for Tuesday and Wednesday in central and southern Utah.

Transportation officials are urging drivers to limit travel on Interstate 15 between Payson and Cedar City where driving conditions are expected to be treacherous.

Metereologists are expecting nearly 12 inches of snow in the area, with the heaviest part of the storm expected Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning.

Travelers can get weather and travel condition updates on their smartphones using the Utah Department of Transportation's mobile app.
