Watkins celebrates 80th anniversary

“There’s no question why Watkins has been around for 80 years and why they’ve been so successful,” said Tyrone Frost (above), an owner-operator for the company’s team division. “It’s because of the way they take care of their drivers. The Watkins Family of Companies is known throughout the trucking industry for its leadership in customer service, professionalism and strong focus on its drivers. The company, which consists of three divisions, is celebrating its 80th anniversary this year.

“There’s no question why Watkins has been around for 80 years and why they’ve been so successful,” said Tyrone Frost, an owner-operator for the company’s team division. “It’s because of the way they take care of their drivers. Everyone who works here knows that this is the best place to be.”

The three years Frost has worked for Watkins has been the best years of his 19-year career, Frost said. All he ever wanted was to be able to make the amount of money he needed while still maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Frost found Watkins’ lease-purchase program attractive because it was set up to do just that. He also likes the fact that the company makes his wife feel involved with what they’re doing and she can call any time to speak to his dispatcher.

“Watkins is a whole other ballgame compared to the other companies out there. They’re honest with you and give you the push that you need to succeed,” said Frost. “This company has changed my life so much that I can’t imagine ever working for someone else. I’m so proud I get to be a part of their growing legacy of success.”

Watkins drivers have multiple options available to them throughout their driving careers. Depending on the fleet they choose, drivers can have the pay, benefits and home time that suit their needs. Regional and dedicated drivers can expect weekly home time and teams typically stay out on the road 7-14 days at a time. Watkins also has limited local opportunities available for drivers who want to be home every day. For more information about the driving opportunities at Watkins Family of Companies visit www.driveforwatkins.com or call (800) 695-9643.

The Watkins Family of Companies provides owner-operators and drivers with a variety of fleet opportunities. The Watkins family has been a leader in the transportation industry since 1937, by continually expanding services to its customers as well as providing a selection of opportunities to its professional owner operators and company drivers.
