ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Collins Brothers Moving Corp. of Larchmont, N.Y. has been chosen to receive the 2012 Moving & Storage Agent of the Year Service Excellence Award from the American Moving & Storage Association (AMSA), the national trade association for the professional moving industry. The company is an agent for Atlas Van Lines, which nominated Collins Brothers for the honor.

“On behalf of the employees and professional van operators of Collins Brothers, I am honored to receive this most prestigious award,” said Collins Brothers Chief Executive Officer Frank Webers. “It is our staff of professionals that has made this possible.”

The award reflects AMSA’s and the industry’s commitment to excellent customer service, and is presented to agents nominated by their affiliated van line based on customer surveys and van line experience. Nominations are judged primarily on customer service assessments and other industry awards and recognitions, Webers said. Consideration is also given to factors such as leadership, innovation, community involvement and activities that enhance the industry’s image.

Collins Brothers Moving Corp. was founded in 1910 in Larchmont, N.Y. by William Collins, who started with a horse and wagon moving furniture and other freight in Westchester County and New York City, Webers said. In 1958, Collins’ two sons took over and began concentrating on moving household goods. In 1972, Frank E. Webers acquired the company, which then consisted of three employees and two vans. Today the company has more than 300 pieces of equipment and 275 employees.

“Atlas Van Lines is privileged to work with such an honorable agency such as Collins Brothers Moving Corp., which is more than deserving of the annual Agent of the Year award,” said Glen Dunkerson, CEO of Atlas World Group Inc. “Their work ethic, customer service and dedication to the industry is immeasurable."

Collins Brothers has a domestic household goods operation, an international division, a hospitality installation division, a commercial moving division and a home delivery division for new furniture. The firm also has warehouse facilities in Westchester County, Putnam County, Suffolk County and New York City, N.Y.; Dulles, Va.; and Dallas, Texas.

The firm has also received Atlas Van Lines’ Milton H. Hill Quality Award annually since it was established in 1996. Active in the community, the company recently contributed trailers and packing materials to help send relief items to Hurricane Sandy victims, and donated trucks and drivers to the American Red Cross in Manhattan after the 9/11 attacks, Webers said.

“I am so pleased that this excellent agency has received this honor,” said Linda Bauer Darr, AMSA president and CEO. “Collins Brothers Moving is very deserving of this recognition, and we are proud they are an AMSA member and a ProMover.”

Each year AMSA recognizes best-performing and highest-achieving individuals and companies in the industry. The corresponding 2012 award for an independent mover went to Quality Services Moving of Lorton, Va. All awards will be presented during AMSA’s 2013 Education Conference & Expo in Atlanta from March 3-6.
