Price of diesel declines 4.2 cents in second straight weekly drop

WASHINGTON — The average on-highway price of a gallon of diesel fell by 4.2 cents to $4.088 for the week ending March 11, according to the Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy.
The price has now dropped 7.1 cents a gallon since Feb. 25 and is now 3.5 cents lower than it was one year ago this week.
All regions of the country reported a decline in price during the week, led by a 6.4 cent drop in the Central Atlantic states and a 6.1 cent drop in California.
