Daimler layoffs to be ‘significantly less’ than 1,300 first thought

Daimler officials said last month at a press event in Los Cabos, Mexico, that changes, if any, to the 1,300 estimate would be announced at the upcoming Mid-America Trucking Show (MATS) and a Daimler spokesman reiterated that a “final figure” would be forthcoming at the show.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. Daimler Trucks North America President and CEO Martin Daum said here this week that layoffs the company in January estimated could include 1,300 production jobs in North America will be “significantly less” than that.

Daum spoke during the Heavy Duty Dialogue 2013 here put on by the Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association (HDMA).

MATS is being held March 21-23 at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Ky.
