D'Iberville bridge in Mississippi opens Thursday

The Associated Press

D'IBERVILLE, Miss. — A new flyover bridge will open this Thursday in D'Iberville to help alleviate traffic congestion at the busy intersection near Interstate 110 and Sangani Boulevard.

The new overpass has a vertical clearance of 17 feet over Mississippi Highway 67. A pedestrian walkway on the bridge will let walkers safely cross the highway.

The $7.3 million Mississippi Department of Transportation project started in March 2012 by Gulf Equipment Corp. of Theodore, Ala. An official ribbon cutting is planned in August.

The project is the first of millions of dollars in road improvements in D'Iberville.

Sangani Boulevard is being widened by the city and is to be finished just before the holiday shopping season in November. Work has started on new exit and entrance ramps from Interstates 10 and 110.
