Kretsinger Sr., 84, is survived by his wife Carolyn, seven children and their families, according to a Facebook posting by American Central Transport. He is the father of Tom Kretsinger Jr., chairman of the Truckload Carriers Association.
Accoring to the company's Facebook post: “Although Tom Sr. has not been involved in daily operations for some time, his entrepreneurial spirit and drive to look forward remains entrenched in who American Central Transport has become. We will miss his wise council, warm smiles and walks about our building. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him."

Kretsinger Sr. was the Chief Executive Officer of American Central Transport, Inc. He served as President of the company from its acquisition in 1972 until January 2005. Tom and Carolyn, his wife of 50+ years, were Co-Chairmen of the Board of Directors of ACT.
Tom served in the United States Air Force from 1949 through 1953. He attended the University of Missouri Kansas City, School of Law from 1954 until 1957, when he received his Juris Doctor. Tom joined his father’s law firm, Kretsinger & Kretsinger, in 1957 and specialized in Transportation Law.
Kretsinger served on the Board of Directors of ATA, TCA, MMCA, and IMTA. He was a member of the Missouri Bar Association.
