Propane firm says shipping glut slows deliveries
United Propane Gas president Eric Small says a combination of low inventory and a transportation glut are to blame.

PADUCAH, Ky. — The head of a propane company in Paducah that stopped shipping the heating gas to commercial customers in several states says the shortage has caused massive shipping problems.
United Propane Gas president Eric Small says a combination of low inventory and a transportation glut are to blame. He tells WPSD-TV in Paducah (http://bit.ly/1fyJX22 ) that "everyone is trying to get all the gas moved at one time."
The glut has been exacerbated nationwide by extremely cold temperatures that have pushed up demand for the heating gas.
The company sent a letter to its business customers on Jan. 21 saying it was temporarily ceasing deliveries. Small says propane for pre-paying customers is stored in Texas and is unavailable until Feb. 15.
He says the company just needs time to fulfill its contracts.
