TEMPE, Ariz. — Part of eastbound U.S. 60 is closed in Tempe Monday morning as authorities investigate the fatal shooting of a suspect in a Buckeye homicide.

The eastbound U.S. 60 closure is between Interstate 10 and Mill Avenue.

Arizona Department of Public Safety spokesman Bart Graves says the suspect shot at officers who had used tire-puncturing spike strips to stop the car.

Graves says the officers returned fire and that a police dog pulled the man's dead body out of the car. He says an officer suffered a minor injury, possibly from broken glass.

Buckeye police Lt. says Jarod Griffith says the man was sought in a fatal shooting Sunday at an auto repair business.

Witnesses told police that a man drove from the scene in a tow truck carrying a car.
