County leaders say funding for the project comes from federal highway funds through Gulf Regional Planning.

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. — Jackson County supervisors have voted to activate a major road project north of Ocean Springs that will affect hundreds of drivers a day.

But while the project to align the intersection of Old Fort Bayou Road with the entrance to The Reserve apartment complex is technically activated, it will be more than a year before drivers see it begin to take shape.

The Sun Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1iY9Izj ) the intersection is on North Washington Avenue, a main thoroughfare from Interstate 10 and the communities of Latimer and St. Martin to Ocean Springs and U.S. 90. Realigning it is expected to cost more than $1.8 million when complete.

County leaders say funding for the project comes from federal highway funds through Gulf Regional Planning.
