Average on-highway price of diesel drops 1.5 cents

WASHINGTON — The average on-highway price of a gallon of diesel dropped below the $4 mark for the week ending March 24, falling1.5 cents to $3.988, according to the Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy.
The last time the price was below $4 was the week ending February 17 when the average was $3.989.
Every region of the country showed a decline, topped by a 3.7 cent a gallon decline in the Central Atlantic region and a 3.4 cents a gallon drop in the New England states.
This week’s price was 1.8 cents lower that the same week one year ago.
