GRAPEVINE, Texas — Omnitracs, a provider of integrated wireless systems, applications and services to transportation and logistics companies, Sunday announced the upcoming availability of NaviGo 5.1 powered by Telogis in-cab navigation on the Mobile Computing Platform 200 and 110 (MCP200 and MCP110).
The announcement came during the Truckload Carriers Association annual convention under way here.
The enhanced application will deliver improved driver safety, productivity and fuel efficiency benefits to shared Omnitracs and Telogis customers, according to Vikas Jain, vice president of product management and software at Omnitracs.
Working collaboratively since 2007, Omnitracs and Telogis have delivered complementary services and technology to hundreds of customers, Jain said.
NaviGo powered by Telogis and optimized by Omnitracs is a near real-time, in-cab navigation application that decreases the risk of accidents by providing truck-specific information that enables drivers to drive more safely and follow the best routes, resulting in reduced fuel costs, increased uptime and improved customer satisfaction.
Slated for commercial availability in summer 2014, the latest NaviGo 5.1 enhancement will expand the following in-cab navigation capabilities for fleets:
• Driver Alerts notify drivers when they have entered a location or general area identified by the fleet to require special attention
• Speed Alerts let drivers know with a pop-up notification when they exceed the posted road speed limits
• Lane Guidance provides drivers with more detailed screen visuals of complex highway exits, interchanges and junctions and delivers guidance to make it easier for them to safely find the correct lane
“Together with Telogis, we are committed to delivering seamlessly integrated solutions that address many of the challenges facing fleets,” Jain said. “With this advanced in-cab navigation offering, drivers will be better equipped to do their job safely and efficiently, while fleet managers can focus on productivity, profitability and driver satisfaction.”
“Our customers’ software needs are constantly evolving, and it is increasingly important that they have access to the most accurate, truck-specific information in order for their drivers to get to where they need to go quickly and efficiently, said Erin Cave, vice president of Telogis navigation and compliance at Telogis. “With expanded functionality and added visibility offered by NaviGo 5.1, drivers will now be armed with key information needed to make better decisions while on the road.”
NaviGo 5.1 will be available on the MCP200 and MCP110 to fleets that subscribe to NaviGo powered by Telogis in-cab navigation solution.
