FMCSA extends ELD proposed rule comment period to June 26

So far, 936 comments have been received, according to the above site, ranging from statements that ELDs are a “hindrance to doing business” to being like criminal having to wear an ankle bracelet.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration said today it is extending its public comment period on its Electronic Logging Devices supplemental notice of proposed rulemaking (SNPRM) from May 27 to June 26.

All comments received will be posted without change to http://www.regulations.gov, the agency stated in a Federal Register notice.

So far, 936 comments have been received, according to the above site, ranging from statements that ELDs are a “hindrance to doing business” to being like criminal having to wear an ankle bracelet.

A few comments were in support of the proposed rulemaking but one driver said although he likes them, his company uses the drive-able hours shown on the ELD to make him drive when he doesn’t feel well.
