Ray LaHood joins Meridian firm as senior advisor

Former U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has been hired as a senior advisor to the Meridian North America global investment and asset managing firm, the company announced via PRNewswire.

The firm specializes in the development, financing and management of long-term public and community infrastructure projects and has offices in Paris, New York, Toronto and Istanbul.

LaHood was President Barack Obama’s Secretary of Transportation from January 2009 to July 2013 and prior to that was a U.S. House representative from the 18th District of Illinois from 1995 to 2009 and served on various House committees.

Meridian CEO and founding partner Thierry Deau said LaHood will be “… a valuable asset to the company” and Jane Garvey, Meridian North America Chairman called LaHood a “deeply respected expert on infrastructure in the United States.”

LaHood, along with many trucking stakeholders recently has called for an increase in the fuel tax to help fix the country’s ailing infrastructure.
