BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — ALK Technologies Inc. has announced the successful certification and integration of PC*MILER 24 and PC*MILER|Tolls 24 by strategic alliance partner McLeod Software.

PC*MILER's 24th annual edition includes critical map data updates such as truck restrictions and truck-specific toll costs.

This PC*MILER 24 certification also covers ALK’s street-level routing, multi-version switch and hazmat routing solutions, according to Bill Hnatiuk, strategic alliance manager for PC*MILER Solutions.

PC*MILER 24 is an important component of numerous technology solutions offered by McLeod Software, including LoadMaster X, and PowerBroker applications, version 7.5 and forward, he said, adding that the McLeod iLENS freight procurement, load execution and spot market product line interfaces with PC*MILER Web Services as well.

“We are especially pleased with McLeod’s timely testing and integration of PC*MILER 24,” Hnatiuk said. "PC*MILER truck specific data, integrated with McLeod Software products offer customers a competitive advantage, operational efficiencies, and cost savings.”

An essential tool for billing, driver pay and managing operating costs, PC*MILER reduces out-of-route mileage, saving time, tolls and fuel, Hnatiuk said. PC*MILER 24 provides a substantial map data update encompassing 627,000 new and updated North American truck restrictions and 21,700 miles of new and updated truck-restricted roadway.

The recently updated map data includes 3.52 million commercial truck restrictions, such as bridge heights, clearances and load limits.

Its 427,600 urban road designations help keep commercial vehicles out of city centers and on designated truck-through routes around the city, Hnatiuk said.

New features and enhancements include:

• Least Cost Routing generates optimal routes based on custom fuel efficiency and operating cost settings.

• Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions estimator calculates carbon footprint per route.

• Comparison Reports analyze multiple routes, or the effect of different routing options on the same route.

• Free quarterly updates of U.S. ZIP Codes.

“During our long relationship with ALK Technologies, they have consistently brought new products and capabilities to market that deliver value for our customers,” Tom McLeod, president and CEO of McLeod Software, said.  “We are delighted that this integration solution for our products with PC*MILER 24 is ready for our carrier and broker customers to begin to deploy.”
