PRINCETON, N.J. — ALK, a provider of GeoLogistics solutions and navigation software, has announced a new update to its CoPilot Truck mobile GPS navigation app for iOS and Android.

The update, v9.6.2, includes a revamped and restyled user interface (UI) and a full map update.

CoPilot Truck v9.6.2 is designed to provide professional drivers with comprehensive and accurate truck-specific navigation and is the only navigation app to offer ALK’s PC*MILER commercial routing, according to David Quin, vice president of consumer applications.

The new version includes updated maps that contain truck-specific attributes not found in standard car GPS navigation apps, he said, including height restrictions, hazardous materials restrictions, truck-related points of interest (POIs), state mileage calculators and more.

“There is a fundamental difference in the GPS navigation needs of the truck driver as compared to the average commuter or traveler,” Quin said. “CoPilot Truck addresses these differences by providing professional drivers optimal routes that can reduce costly out-of-route mileage, enable improved driver safety and assist in avoiding costly vehicle damage by calculating routes based on the size of vehicle driven and load carried.”

“CoPilot Truck v9.6.2 also seamlessly integrates with the Drivewyze PreClear mobile-based weigh station bypass app, available separately from Drivewyze, to help drivers save time and money by bypassing weigh stations while following CoPilot Truck guidance,” stated an ALK news release.

“Drivers will also benefit from CoPilot Truck’s new ActiveRoutes feature that calculates routes using average road speeds at that exact time of day and day of the week they are scheduled to travel for precise routing.”

Quin listed additional features, including:

• iOS 8 optimization

• Improved graphics for iPhone 6

• Reduced battery consumption

• Automatic Cloud backup of recent places, favorites and subscriptions

• Drag-and-drop trip editing to easily reorganize stops along your route, and

• Connection settings with offline mode to help control data costs.

The update is available for free to all CoPilot Truck app users in North America and Europe. CoPilot Truck North America apps are currently on sale for up to 33 percent off the standard price for a limited time and available on Google Play and the App Store.
