ST. CLOUD, Minn. — Anderson Trucking Service (ATS), a provider of specialized transportation solutions, has broken ground on a 20,000 square foot addition to its corporate office.

The expansion will accommodate the current and future anticipated growth of the company, one of the largest for-hire carriers in the country, according to Scott Follett, director of facilities.

“It's exciting for us at Anderson Trucking Service and for the community that the growth of ATS continues to be strong well after the company's 60th anniversary,” Follett said.

Now in its 61st year of business ATS, will have been in its current corporate headquarters for 10 years in August.

Planning for the new addition began in the fall of 2015.

The Anderson family and company leadership understood that more space was required to accommodate their growing corporate support team Follett and members of the facilities department looked at lease options in the community for a quick cost- effective resolution, but all the options reviewed were missing an important feature.

“Being a part of a cohesive team to support our larger mission is an important part of our culture here,” Follett said. “The Anderson family recognized that this aspect would be missing if we were to utilize a leased space and made a solid decision to keep everyone under one roof."

McGough Construction of St. Cloud was awarded the opportunity for contracting, bringing a 60-year history of construction expertise.

The company stood out to ATS for its management with local projects at The College of St. Benedict's and The St. Cloud Hospital, Follett said.

GLTArchitects of St. Cloud was chosen as the architect for the project, ensuring consistency with the existing visual appearance.

Granite from long-time ATS customer Coldspring will once again grace the façade and interior design components.

To sustain anticipated growth well into the future, 10,000 square feet will be added to two floors, providing for an additional 200 seats for a growing employee team.

The expansion will also provide space for six additional conferences rooms, allowing teams to gather in a collaborative environment, Follett said.

Founded in 1955, Anderson Trucking Service offers flatbed, specialized, alternative energy, van, and international transportation and logistics.

Its service area includes all of North America, (including Hawaii and Puerto Rico), as well the Caribbean, Germany and other international points.

Besides St. Cloud, the company has offices in Gary, Indiana; Waterloo, Iowa; Fontana California; Hickory, North Carolina; Houston; Laredo, Texas; Manitowoc, Wisconsin; Jacksonville, Florida; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Winnfield, Louisiana; and Missoula, Montana.

ATS has logistics offices in Greenville, South Carolina; Ames, Iowa; Phoenix; and Youngstown, New York.

ATS is the largest truckload carrier in Minnesota with 2,400 tractors and 8,600 trailers.
