LOUISVILLE, Ky. — ArvinMeritor has not sat back during the economic crisis, said Chief Operating Officer Carsten Reinhardt Wednesday. Instead, he said, ArvinMeritor has been pouring more than $60 million into its brake efforts.
In 2009, he said, everything was cut except for one area, engineering.
He predicted that in North America the economy is experiencing its last little hiccup and the question is “how fast it can come back.”
In South America, he said the company is running “full throttle” and that India and China are already back to pre economic crisis levels while Europe is in the process of coming back.
He made the comments during the unveiling of ArvinMeritor’s new 14X Tandem Drive Axle.
The company is planning another launch, the 17X system ultra high efficiency axle in September in Hannover, Germany.
In fact, said Joe Plomin, vice president for Truck Americas, the company is poised for growth around the world with a focus on greater efficiency, greater payload, less maintenance and more fuel savings with its MPG Series of products.
The 14X is the first new line-haul axle for North America in 20 years, he said.
