Bridgestone introduces two new tires with OTR application

DALLAS — Bridgestone Commercial Solutions Group (BCSG), a division of Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations, introduced two new tires applicable to over-the-trucking operations.

The announcement of the new products came during a news conference at the Great American Trucking Show under way here though Saturday.

The Firestone brand FD695 PLUS drive tire is designed for optimum performance on tandem axle drive tractors in long-haul and regional operations, according to Bert Jones, manager of product marketing TRB, retread and OTR.

The GREATEC R125A wide base trailer radial is the newest addition to BCSG’s GREATEC over the road wide base tire lineup. 

“With the latest fuel-efficient casing technology and proven low rolling resistance tread

and sidewall compounds, the FD695 PLUS offers rolling resistance that is among the

industry best,” Jones said. “Wear life isn’t sacrificed due to its cap/base tread compounding design and deep 26/32? original tread depth. Continuous shoulder ribs distribute weight and  torque evenly to fight irregular wear, and they are coupled to an aggressive center lug tread design to provide solid wet traction. Selecting the right tire for the job helps our customers cut their cost per mile while meeting the technology requirements of the SmartWay transportation partnership.”

As with all Firestone products, the FD695 PLUS casing was designed with retreadability

in mind, Jones said.

“The FD695 PLUS casing, with four full steel belts and a steel body ply, can be

retreaded for either trailer or drive axle service for many more low cost miles,” Jones said.

The GREATEC R125A’s advanced technological design provides more payload, longer tire wear and reduces costs per mile, Jones said.

“The GREATEC R125A is equipped with an exclusive belt system to maintain casing shape,” he said. “The wide top belt is optimized for better irregular wear resistance and the Waved Belt design holds the tread flat against the road for long, even wear and excellent handling.”

Thee GREATEC R125A uses several innovations that fight irregular wear and promote long, even tread life, including Bridgestone’s Equalizer Rib structure and Defense Groove design, according to Jones.

“The R125A is the next generation GREATEC trailer tire for fleets that want increased revenue producing payload, long wear and lower cost per mile,” Jones said.

Another feature of the GREATEC R125A is  a stone rejector platforms which enhance retreadabilty by helping keep rocks from embedding in the tread and damaging the casing.
