WASHINGTON — The federal agency tasked with the electronic logging mandate December 18 will hold an educational event on ELD implementation October 11-12 at the Davis Travel Center off I-95 in Stony Creek, Virginia.
A Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration news release said material on transitioning to ELDs will be provided to commercial motor vehicle drivers in attendance. The event coincides with the travel center’s annual “Driver Appreciation Days” October 11-12.
The agency release said “subject matter experts” will be on hand to discuss ELDs and answer questions from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT each day.
In addition, a “driver-focused ELD presentation” will also be held from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. each of the two days.
For truck drivers unable to attend, a live webcast of the October 11 presentation will be broadcast at 12:30 p.m. EDT on the FMCSA website at https://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/eld-event .
All motor carriers subject to the ELD rule must convert from paper logs or logging software to a registered ELD if they don’t have an Automatic On-Board Recording Device (AOBRD), the forerunner of the ELD, by December 18.
The release said the agency is conducting nationwide training with its state partners “to ensure that they are knowledgeable of compliance and enforcement requirements.”
