February Class 8 sales down 8.6 percent from 2015

North American Class 8 February truck sales posted an 8.6 percent drop from the same month last year, WardsAuto reported March 10.

The monthly total of 15,876 represented a 0.5 percent decline from the previous month, the report continued. Year-to-date, sales totaled 31,825, a 9.5 percent drop from last year’s total of 35,184.

Freightliner led in sales with 6,487, a 16.4 percent drop from February 2015 and a 6.2 percent decline from the previous month, Ward’s reported. Freightliner also leads year-to-date with a total of 13,402, 9.2 percent down from 2015’s two-month total.

Volvo’s year-to-date total of 2,973 represented the largest decline, 24.5 percent, while Kenworth dropped 19.9 percent with a year-to-date total of 3,890. Mack’s total of 2,435 represented the largest increase for the year, at 10.7 percent, while Western Star rose 10 percent year-to-date with a total of 724.
