OKLAHOMA CITY — Eastbound lanes of Interstate 40 were shut down in western Oklahoma City early Friday because of an accident and officials predicted "significant congestion" through rush hour.
The roadway was opened again shortly after 8:30 a.m.
Also closed Friday morning was the I-44 southbound off-ramp onto eastbound I-40.
Motorists were being detoured off I-40 at Portland.
The accident occurred about 5:30 a.m. Friday when a tractor-trailer rig crashed into a retaining wall in a construction zone.
