BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — Sales of McLeod Software products Including LoadMaster, PowerBroker and DocumentPower Enterprise, reached the highest annual total in its 25-year history during 2009, the company reports.

Company officials said they were extremely pleased that sales revenues have continued to increase by double digits during each of the past two years, despite challenging economic conditions in the transportation industry, which comprises its sole market.

McLeod Software cites several reasons for the success of its software offerings during a down economy.

“Shrewd truckload carriers and logistics providers are investing in the latest information technology with proven return on investment to help them operate more profitably,” said Rick Halbrooks, vice president of sales and marketing for McLeod. “While some of our customers also experienced record sales in 2009, most trucking companies and brokerage firms have found it difficult to increase revenues in the existing freight and rate environment.”

Some customers are taking advantage of the slow time to implement a new software system to position their company for growth as the economy improves, Halbrooks added.
Outstanding 2009 sales resulted in 84 transportation companies purchasing a McLeod Software system, according to the company. Trucking companies acquiring a LoadMaster system in 2009 included:  Dillon Transport Inc., a Tank Carrier in Burr Ridge, Ill., running 250 trucks; Freymiller/D&M Carriers Inc., a Refrigerated Carrier in Oklahoma City running 300 trucks; Tutle and Tutle Trucking Inc., a Tank Carrier in Cleburne, Texas running 320 trucks; SLT Express Way Inc., a Dry Van Carrier in Glendale, Ariz., running 175 trucks and Wisconsin Nationwide Inc., a Dry Van Carrier in Two Rivers, Wisc., running 50 trucks.

Brokerage firms and Logistics providers purchasing PowerBroker in 2009 included Tandem Logistics Inc. of Pflugerville, Texas; Mike’s Loading Service Inc. of Edinburg, Texas; Load Delivered Logistics LLC of Northbrook, Ill.; J H Rose Logistics LLC of Santa Teresa, N.M., and GTO 2000 Inc. of Gainesville, Ga.

McLeod Software products currently being used by the transportation industry include more than 400 carriers using LoadMaster, more than 250 brokerage/logistics providers using PowerBroker and a mix of more than 300 carriers and brokerage firms using DocumentPower document management products, according to the company.

McLeod Software provides transportation dispatch, accounting, operations, freight brokerage and document management software systems to truckload carriers, freight brokers and shippers throughout North America.
