DENTON, Texas — Peterbilt Motors Co. Thursday celebrated an historic milestone with the delivery of the first 2010 EPA certified PACCAR MX engine.
A Peterbilt Model 386 equipped with the first production MX engine was delivered to McClymonds Supply and Transit Co. at the Peterbilt Denton facility.
Peterbilt employees, local government officials and the media joined the festivities.
“Peterbilt is proud to celebrate this important event with McClymonds Supply & Transit Company and their dealer, Hunter Peterbilt, as our companies share a passion for industry leading quality, performance and customer satisfaction,” Bill Jackson, Peterbilt general manager and PACCAR vice president, said. “The first PACCAR MX produced at the Denton facility signifies an increased level of powertrain integration and vehicle optimization, delivering performance synonymous with the high quality the industry has come to expect from Peterbilt.”
“McClymonds Supply and Transit is proud to receive the first Peterbilt installed with a PACCAR MX engine,” Mark McClymonds, the company’s president, said. “Our company has run millions of miles with Peterbilts and we are extremely happy to be the first customer to receive a PACCAR engine specifically optimized for power, fuel efficiency, quality and overall performance.”
McClymonds Supply and Transit is located in Portersville, Pa.
The PACCAR MX is available in Peterbilt Models 587, 388, 386, 384, 367 and 365.
The MX engine has a horsepower range of 380hp-485hp and torque outputs up to 1,750 lb-ft with a displacement of 12.9 liters.
This power range, combined with excellent fuel efficiency, high reliability, durability, lightweight design and low cost of ownership makes the MX an ideal choice for both over-the-road and vocational applications, Jackson said.
The PACCAR MX has been designed for ease of maintenance, which results in improved efficiency in dealers’ service facilities, the company said.
Peterbilt and all PACCAR dealerships have certified PACCAR MX trained technicians and a complete inventory of service parts in-stock. More than 670 authorized service locations across North America are certified in the latest technologies and diagnostic tools to service and support the PACCAR Engine family. PACCAR operates eight parts distribution centers in North America and provides engine technical support 24/7 – 365 days a year through its dedicated Customer Call Center.
