Price of gallon of diesel falls three tenths of a penny

WASHINGTON — After three consecutive weeks of increases, the average on-highway price of a gallon of diesel declined three tenths of a penny to $2.478 for the week ending October 24, according to the Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy.

Five of the 10 reporting regions posted decreases with the largest decline in the Lower Atlantic states at 1.1 cents a gallon.

The largest increase was 1 cent on the West Coast not counting California.

The price is only 2 cents lower than the same week last year.
