Drivers of the Year
HILLSIDE, Ill. — Bekins Van Lines announced its 2009 Drivers of the Year. The winners are Scott Hostetler, Kurt Kloth, Jordy Jones and Robert Stanton. The four drivers were recognized for their outstanding customer service and professionalism during the 2010 Bekins Convention held Sept. 29 – Oct. 1 in Marco Island, Fla.
“As the most significant point of contact between our Bekins brand and our customer professionalism, cour-tesy and a dedication to service, are critical compo-nents to a driver exceeding our customer expectations,” said Greg Hoover, Bekins Van Lines CEO. “To have experienced professionals of this tenure and this level of achievement as ambassadors of the Bekins name is an honor and a privilege for our company. We’re grateful for their commitment.”
Hostetler, of Granite Bay, Calif., was named in the household goods category. He has been with Bekins since 1988, and has been the recipient of numerous awards including six years of safety awards; President’s Award for Customer Service Excellence – 2000, 2002, 2006, 2007; Bekins Driver of the Month – 2001, 2002, 2007, 2009.
Kloth, of Wausau, Wis., was named in the household goods category. He started out as an owner-operator in the Bekins system in 1996. During his 14-year tenure he has been the recipient of the following awards: President’s Award for Customer Service Excellence — 1997, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2008; Bekins Driver of the Month — 1997, 2002, 2003, 2005.
Jones, of Murrieta, Calif., was named in the mileage category.
Jones, along with his co-driver wife Trudi, joined Bekins in January, 2008, as a mileage driver. Bringing 10 years of experience with a household goods carrier, the Jones team was a great fit in the Bekins fleet and now hauls all types of freight for Bekins. During his short tenure at Bekins, Jones has been a recipient of the following awards: two years of safety awards; Bekins Driver of the Month — 2008, 2009.
Stanton, of Daytona Beach, Fla., was named in the high value products category.
A member of the Bekins Van Lines family for 36 years, Stanton began his career hauling both house-hold goods and tradeshow properties. During Stanton’s tenure with Bekins he gained experience in various roles beyond driver, working within a Bekins local moving company (agency). Signing on as a direct lease owner-operator for Bekins in January 2009, Stanton assumed a role as liaison between the drivers, Bekins agents, and the corporate office. He has been instrumental in bringing innovative changes to the Bekins fleet, resulting in a monumental impact on the overall quality and performance of the fleet. Stanton’s awards include: 17 Years of safety awards; President’s Award for Customer Service Excellence — 1995; Bekins Driver of the Month – 2009.
Winners of this prestigious award are based on professionalism, timeliness, communications, revenue, claim experience and customer service skills and must first be recognized as a Bekins Driver of the Month.
3 Million Milers
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Prime inc. recently honored driving associates Herman Knight and Steve Rowan for achieving 3 million miles of safe driving. The accomplishment, which takes drivers years of hard work and a strong commitment to safety, requires a driving record free of preventable accidents or incidents.
“I know that Prime has my safety in mind,” said Knight. “The company is very driver-oriented, making sure that the equipment is nice and well-kept.”
Rowan agrees. “Prime emphasizes safety continually. It’s a priority the company and I definitely share.”
Knight and Rowan were presented their awards at the 10-year celebration dinner for Prime employees. At the dinner, each driver received a check for $5,000, a 3-million-mile leather jacket, a decal for their truck, a lapel pin, a jacket patch, and a plaque with their name and likeness on the Wall of Fame in Prime’s Millennium Building.
