GREEN BAY, Wis. — Schneider National Inc. has completed the rollout of its Regional plan with the addition of Northeast Regional service, the company reports. Available to shippers in Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont, the expansion brings the total number of regional-serviced states to 48.

“As customers continue to explore ways to improve their supply chains, they’re finding that regional service is a smart solution for the total length of haul,” said Marc Rogers, senior vice president and general manager of Schneider Van Truckload. “Our Northeast Regional service — which specializes in shipments that are 500 miles or less — is the perfect complement to our Long Haul, Expedited, Dedicated and Intermodal services and ensures that Schneider National can offer a tailored program for each customer’s needs.”

According to Rogers, the launch of the final expansion was accelerated due to high customer demand after its Regional service began in 2008. He also noted that an attention to different operational needs by region — including offering higher pay to drivers willing to take on the challenge associated with driving in the congested Northeast — have fueled the company’s efforts to find professional, reliable and safe drivers.

CHEP Equipment Pooling Systems, the global leader in pallet and container pooling services, added Schneider’s Regional offering to its mode mix, which was primarily long haul.

“Schneider National is an integral part of our long-term plans and our business network in the Northeast,” said Bill Wade, vice president of logistics for CHEP Equipment Pooling Systems. “The company’s reputation and dependability were important factors in our decision to work with Schneider.”

Schneider National customer service representatives in the Northeast know the region and short-haul routes well, the company said. With drivers assigned to consistent routes, customers work with the same people on a consistent basis — similar to the Dedicated Services accounts that have existed in Schneider’s portfolio of services for years.

“The regional support we receive from Schneider allows us to focus on our business,” said Wade. “Our Schneider team knows the ins and outs of CHEP Equipment Pooling Systems business and is exceptionally responsive in resolving issues before they become a concern.”

Schneider National Inc. provides truckload, logistics and intermodal services. The company’s transportation and logistics solutions include Van Truckload, Dedicated, Regional, Bulk, Intermodal, Transportation Management, Supply Chain Management, Warehousing and International Logistics services.
