Slowing down is safer and benefits both economy and environment
I have been noticing on the road that many trucks are really slowing down. I work with a company that has had speed limiters on our trucks for years, so when I started trucking 11 years ago, many trucks were blowing by me in my speed-governed truck.
Now that the price of fuel has gone from less than $1 a gallon when I started, to over $4 a gallon now, many trucks are really slowing down to conserve fuel.
Back then, I believed we needed to be more fuel efficient, and now that it is really becoming a reality. This year should be a great year for safety in the trucking industry.
There seems to be a greater degree of safety in the industry with the trucks being forced by the economy to slow down. Slower moving vehicles will benefit the environment as well.
