ATRI seeks comments for EBOR study

ALEXANDRIA, Va. — In response to potential changes in commercial driver Hours-of-Service (HOS) management, the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) is conducting a multi-phased study on usage issues and opportunities associated with Electronic On-Board Recorders (EOBRs) for HOS record-keeping among motor carriers.

As part of this study, ATRI is conducting three surveys to better understand the current EOBR climate of usage and industry perspectives. ATRI is seeking the participation of current and future EOBR vendors, motor carriers currently using EOBR technologies for HOS record-keeping, and motor carriers that have considered but rejected EOBR technologies for HOS record-keeping.

All data and responses will be kept confidential. ATRI intends to integrate and analyze the survey responses with other EOBR research to better understand the institutional issues that exist with EOBR usage and offer strategies and countermeasure for resolving those issues. ATRI will forward a final report to both industry stakeholders and FMCSA as part of its ongoing EOBR review and analysis process. The surveys can be accessed at www.atri-online.org/survey.
