Diesel prices fall for 5th straight week

Weekly retail on-highway diesel prices fell for the fifth straight week, according to the Energy Information Agency of the U.S. Department of Energy.

For the week of May 23, the national average price of a gallon of diesel was $2.156, down 3.3 cents from last week's price of $2.189.

The largest drop regionally was in the Rocky Mountain region, where the average price of $2.207 was 6.0 cents lower than last week's $2.267. That was followed by the West Coast, where at-the-pump prices went from $2.397 last week to $2.339 Monday, May 16, a drop of 5.1 cents.
