Diesel continues to climb; reaches $2.348

The average on-highway price of a gallon of diesel set another record high as the price for the week of July 4 increased 1.2 cents to $2.348, the Energy Information Administration of the Department of Energy reported.

The price was 63.2 cents higher than one year ago.

The highest average was in California where the price was $2.554 a gallon.

The largest increase for the week occurred in the Rocky Mountain states where the average of $2.328 was 4 cent higher than one week ago.
