KAYSVILLE, UTAH — KSG Distributing, a supplier to the truck stop and retail industries, has completed the purchase of EBK Corp., a mobile electronics firm based in Elk Grove, Ill.
The acquisition continues KSG Distributing’s focus on the transportation industry, according to KSG President Don Paddock, who said the company will soon manufacture its own branded products for sale to its retail base of more than 1,000 stores in the 48 continental states and southern Canada.
“As we have diversified our product line, KSG has experienced double-digit growth in sales throughout our inventory,” Paddock said. “Last year, for instance, we became the exclusive distributor of a dual dash camera with GPS capabilities. It has become one of our most popular items and is reflective of how KSG seeks out niche products differentiating ourselves in a very competitive marketplace.”
EBK Corp. is a major manufacturer of cellular accessories. Its products include phone chargers, earbuds, 3.5 cable, windshield mounts and cassette adaptors.
“Trucking has been swept up in the headwind of technology and KSG is well-positioned for the future,” Paddock said.
KSG was founded in 1976 in Layton, Utah, with initial sales focused solely on recorded music.
The company grew rapidly with its addition of DVDs and paperback books.
While sales of entertainment products have leveled off in recent years, KSG’s product line has expanded into competitively-priced items including wiper blades, safety gloves and seasonal merchandise ranging from patio furniture to potting bases, Paddock said.
The company employs about 100 with sales representatives in key regions. Paddock, a Chicago-area native with more than 30 years’ experience in the truck-oriented retail market, joined KSG several years ago.
