A recent Reason-Rupe poll found that 77 percent of Americans oppose increasing the federal gas tax while 59 percent of Americans say they would pay to use a toll road if it saved them “significant” time.
Thirty-nine percent supported variably-priced tolls and only 19 percent of those polled favored raising the fuel tax.
A majority, 57 percent, supported converting HOV lanes into HOT lanes and 33 percent said transit should get a share of the funding that exceeds its ridership share with 33 percent saying it should get financing equal to its ridership share.
