BOSSIER PARISH, La. – One man is dead after a crash involving a parked big rig.
According to a news release, Wednesday morning at approximately 9:15 a.m., troopers from the Louisiana State Police (LSP) responded to a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 220 near U.S. Highway 71. The crash reportedly claimed the life of 24-year-old Lareka Jones of Bossier City.
LSP says its preliminary investigation revealed that a 2012 Hyundai Sonata, driven by Jones, was traveling west on Interstate 220. For reasons still under investigation, Jones’ vehicle exited the roadway and collided with a parked tractor-trailer occupied by another motorist.
Jones, who was properly restrained at the time of the crash, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The occupant of the parked tractor-trailer was not injured.
Impairment is not suspected, however, standard toxicology samples were taken and submitted for analysis. T
The crash remains under investigation.
