TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida Trucking Association (FTA) is naming Scott Perry as president and CEO, effective June 1.

“Scott Perry is exactly the proven leader Florida Trucking Association needs to continue its momentum,” said James Sadler of Publix Super Markets, chair of FTA’s board of directors. “His breadth of experience across operations, technology and advocacy paired with his deep ties to FTA and the Florida transportation community, make him the right person to lead the organization into the future.”

Scott Perry

Perry, a Florida-based logistics and transportation executive, brings more than 30 years of industry leadership and insight to the role.

He built the foundation of his career over more than 26 years at Ryder System Inc., where he held a wide range of operational and functional leadership roles in logistics and transportation, rising to chief technology and procurement officer. He went on to lead The Suddath Companies as president of specialized logistics. Most recently, he was vice president of regional operations and brokerage at Proficient Auto Logistics. Perry holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Jacksonville State University, a Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee and a Master of Liberal Arts in Sustainability from Harvard University.

“I am honored to have this opportunity to join the FTA team and to partner with our fantastic carrier and supplier members, our state agencies, and elected officials,” Perry said. “Together we will continue to make Florida’s transportation environment one of the best in the country.”

Perry’s ties to Florida Trucking Association run deep. A longtime member of FTA’s board of directors and executive committee, Perry previously served as Chairman in 2021, a role in which he championed safety, technology, and efforts to modernize the image of the trucking industry and strengthen workforce recruitment. He has been an advocate for Florida’s trucking industry at all levels, strengthening relationships among the trucking community, policymakers, and the public while elevating understanding of the industry’s critical role in the economy.

Perry has spent more than a decade in the fight against human trafficking helping mobilize awareness, prevention, and action. He served as chairman of the board of directors for Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) for 10 years.

“Perry assumes leadership as FTA continues its robust calendar of member services, advocacy initiatives and industry events,” FTA said. “FTA’s programming delivers critical advocacy, communication and education best practices to members ranging from Fortune 500 corporations to family-owned businesses across every sector of Florida’s trucking industry.”
