One dead in Connecticut tractor-trailer crash
A Connecticut woman is dead after a crash involving a tractor-trailer.

NEW HARTFORD, Conn. — According to WFSB, a 90-year-old Winsted woman was killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Route 44 in New Hartford on Friday afternoon.

Officials have now identified the victim as 90-year-old Carolyn T. Mattson.

The crash happened at approximately 1:43 p.m. near the River Run condominiums.

According to investigators, a tractor-trailer was traveling on Route 44 eastbound, east of Park Meadow Road. Mattson’s vehicle was stopped in the area of the Dollar General commercial lot. Mattson exited the commercial lot and was turning left onto Route 44 westbound, which resulted in the tractor-trailer striking her vehicle, according to WFSB.

When firefighters arrived, they found Mattson trapped inside her vehicle and worked to remove her.

Despite lifesaving efforts, Mattson was pronounced dead at the scene by New Hartford EMS and HHC Northwest Paramedics.

Connecticut State Police are investigating the cause of the crash and no additional information is available at this time.
