EDINBURG, Texas — A raid on a semi-truck in Texas found illegal immigrants in the trailer, according to a report from the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) office in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV).

The RGV posted a media release to its Facebook page that on Aug. 20, 2026, Border Patrol Agents and deputies from the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) executed an operation at a truck stop in Edinburg, Texas, shutting down what it stated as “another life-endangering human smuggling attempt.”

Authorities say a CBP K9 unit responded to the truck stop after receiving a report of a suspicious tractor-trailer. Following a positive alert from the K9, agents and deputies moved in and discovered 20 illegal aliens concealed inside the trailer. “The driver was taken into custody immediately.” the release stated.

“We remain relentless in our mission to secure the border and dismantle the criminal networks that profit from illegal immigration,” CBP stated. “Those who endanger lives for profit will be found, arrested, and held accountable. The job gets done.”
