Diesel prices continue to be on the rise.
The national average price for a gallon of diesel climbed to just over seven and a half cents this week from $6.276 to $6.352, according to the weekly report from the U.S. Energy Information Administration (USEIA)
That price is also more than $2.60 higher than this time last year.
Five reporting regions actually reported price decreases, but double-digit spikes in other regions skewed the national average.
The largest spikes came from the Lower Atlantic Region, which reported a 15-cent jump from $5.740 to $5.890. The Midwest rose by nearly 13 cents as well, from $6.352 to $6.480.
Every reported drop was single-digit, with the California Region showing the largest decrease from $8.242 to $8.155.
The Associated Press reported on Wednesday that Brent crude oil, the international standard, fell 0.8% to $109.82 a barrel. U.S. benchmark crude also dropped 0.8%, to $100.93 per barrel, after a modest overnight jump.
