CHICAGO, Ill. — Fuel Transport is announcing the appointment of Ray Blackwell as general manager of sales & operations, U.S.

“Ray’s extensive experience and proven leadership in the transportation industry make him the ideal person to advance and execute Fuel’s strategy,” said Robert Piccioni, CEO and founder of Fuel Transport. “He will be a key driver as we expand our U.S. presence while continuing to provide exceptional service to clients across North America.”

Based in Chicago, Blackwell will play a critical role in scaling U.S. operations and driving growth in one of the company’s fastest-growing markets.

“Blackwell’s deep industry knowledge, strong professional network and proven track record in organizational development position him to bring a fresh strategic and operational perspective to Fuel,” the company said. “His appointment, alongside other key investments and decisions recently, including Fuel’s Transport AI Optimization initiative, underscores Fuel’s momentum as it builds an intelligent ecosystem set to enhance and scale its North American logistics.”

Ray Blackwell

With over 25 years of experience in the transportation industry, Blackwell brings expertise in strategic growth, operational excellence, and client management, alongside proficiency on the 4PL side of the business. During that time, he completed a 22-year tenure at global logistics company, C.H. Robinson, holding several leadership roles, most recently serving as Vice President, Enterprise Accounts. Blackwell has partnered with logistics service providers and shippers as a strategic advisor, helping leadership teams design and implement operating frameworks that drive efficiency, strengthen accountability, and support sustainable growth.

“I’m thrilled to be joining Fuel at such a pivotal moment for both the company and the industry,” Blackwell said. “Fuel is in a period of meaningful growth, particularly as it expands its network across North America and continues to invest in future-forward transport solutions – while staying grounded in a people-first approach. The opportunity in the U.S. is significant, and what stands out most is the ambition behind it. There’s a clear willingness to think differently and build for the long term, and I’m excited to work alongside this team as we continue to grow the business and deliver real value for our clients.”
