Big rig tires come off truck killing longtime St. Louis journalist
A longtime St. Louis journalist was killed in a crash involving a semi truck.

ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. — According to report from KMOV television news in St. Louis, a 73-year-old St. Louis journalist was killed when investigators say two tires came off a tractor-trailer and crashed through the roof of his car.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said the crash happened at 2 p.m. Thursday on Interstate 64. Investigators say two tires came off a tractor-trailer, hit the median and went airborne. The tires crashed through the roof of a passing car, striking and killing 73-year-old Ray Hartmann.

The cause of the tires flying off the big rig was undisclosed.

The investigation is ongoing.
