ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Two women were injured in a crash involving a car and two big rigs on Interstate 270 in St. Louis on Wednesday night.

Both women were occupants of a 2021 Chevrolet Malibu.

The incident occurred around 10:48 p.m.

All three vehicles, including a 2018 Volvo VNL and a 2023 Freightliner, were traveling southbound on Interstate 270 at McDonnel Boulevard.

The Volvo was moving in the second lane from the right, beside the Malibu, which was in the far right lane. The Freightliner was behind the Volvo 18-wheeler, according to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).

Police say the Volvo truck driver “made an unsafe lane change” into the far right lane and struck the Malibu on its left side. MSHP’s report states that the Malibu began to “slide and rotate counterclockwise,” according the report.

The Volvo then struck the left side of the Malibu. The Malibu entered the second from the right lane ahead of the Freightliner, whose driver hit the brakes and struck the front left of the Freightliner hit the left rear of the Volvo.

MSHP stated that the two women suffered only minor injuries in the crash.
