DEKALB COUNTY, Mo. — Two people suffered minor to moderate injuries in a Missouri crash involving a semi truck on Thursday afternoon.
According to a crash summary from the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP), the incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. Thursday on U.S. Highway 36 at Resivior Road, a mile west of Cameron.
According to reports, a 2005 Ford Taurus and a 2021 Peterbilt 389 were both traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 36 when the Taurus slowed down, and the semi truck attempted to pass the slowing car.
Police say the Taurus attempted to turn left in front of the semi truck, and the truck struck the rear driver’s side of the Taurus, which then spun around and came to rest in the middle of the roadway facing north. The semi truck stopped in the median.
The driver, a 61-year-old man, and a passenger, a 60-year-old woman, both of Kansas City, were injured in the crash and taken to a local hospital.
There was no report of injury on the driver of the semi truck, a 31-year-old man from King City, Mo.
The crash remains under investigation.
