It was a busy weekend for the New York State Police (NYSP), which announced that it issued a total of 11,104 tickets statewide during the Memorial Day Weekend enforcement campaign.
The special enforcement period began on Friday, May 22, 2026, and ran through Monday, May 25, 2026.
In its release, NYSP said during the campaign, which was partially funded by the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, State Police utilized sobriety checkpoints, additional DWI patrols, and ticketed distracted drivers who used handheld electronic devices.
Troopers arrested 211 people for DWI and investigated 693 crashes, with four fatal crashes reported.
As part of the enforcement, Troopers targeted speeding and aggressive drivers across the state. Below is a sampling of the total tickets that were issued.

During last year’s Memorial Day Weekend enforcement campaign, the State Police issued 12,062 total tickets and arrested 245 people for DWI.
