WELLSVILLE, New York — One person died in a crash involving a commercial motor vehicle.

New York State Police (NYSP) said on Monday at 1:40 p.m., troopers responded to a two-vehicle collision involving a commercial vehicle on State Route 19 in Wellsville.

NYSP said its investigation determined the 2018 Chevrolet Equinox was traveling southbound on State Route 19 and crossed into the oncoming lane and struck a 1997 Mack Truck traveling northbound.

Police say the operator of the 2018 Chevrolet, Frederick W. Francisco, 87 of Wellsville, New York, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 61-year-old CMV operator was taken to Jones Memorial Hospital for precautionary assessment.
