REYNOLDS, Ga. — A trucker is facing charges after a traffic stop in Reynolds, Ga., between Macon and Columbus.

According to a press release from the Reynolds Police Department (RPD), on Monday, two of its officers observed a driver of a commercial motor vehicle not utilizing their seatbelt which prompted a traffic stop.

Police say officers smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the cab of the truck.

“The driver admitted to recently smoking marijuana and a preliminary search of the vehicle was conducted,” the release stated. “During the search, officers located a large sum of cash and a quantity of suspected cocaine.”

During the course of the investigation, RPD stated it was suspected that the cash was used in the facilitation of drug transactions.

The driver, identified as Roderick Dwayne Jackson, 35, of Dillon, South Carolina, was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence, as well as Violation of the Georgia Controlled Substances Act (VGCSA) Schedule II – Felony, and Possession of Marijuana.
