Despite oil prices fluctuating constantly over the last week, diesel prices have dropped only for the second time since the end of February, when the Iran war began.
The US Energy Information Administration (USEIA) reported that the national average for a gallon of diesel dropped by exactly six cents from $6.352 to $6.292.
Every reporting region reported declines in price per gallon. The California Region reported the largest decline from $8.155 to $8.076, a plunge of nearly eight cents.
The Associated Press reported on Tuesday that after falling nearly 8% Monday, Brent crude rose almost 2% to $106.50 per barrel early Tuesday after the U.S. attacked Iran’s Qeshm Island. U.S. benchmark crude tumbled 8% to start the week, but rose 2% to reach $98.49 per barrel Tuesday. Energy prices have been extremely vulnerable due to uncertainty over when the war with Iran will end.
