SAUGERTIES, New York — A truck driver was cited after her rig overturned in New York.

According to a press release from the New York State Police (NYSP), shortly before 9:00 p.m.Thursday, troopers were dispatched to the Malden Service Area of the New York State Thruway (I-87) in Saugerties for a tractor-trailer rollover.

NYSP said its investigation revealed that Michelle Paulino Rosario, 35, of Kearny, New Jersey, was operating a 2016 Freightliner when she lost control while entering the service area and overturned, with a load of refuse spilling into the parking lot.

NYSP also said speed appeared to be a contributing factor in the crash. Rosario was extricated from the vehicle by fire and EMS and was transported to Kingston Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident took place completely in the trucking parking lot of the Malden Service Area and no lanes were closed or traffic obstructed in or out of the service area. The vehicle was towed, and all debris was cleared by Thruway personnel.

Rosario was issued citations for vehicle and traffic law violations and is due in Saugerties Town Court at a later date.
