Swift, FleetForce launch CDL training in Alabama
FleetForce partners with Swift Transportation to train new CDL drivers in Mobile, Ala.

MOBILE, Ala. — FleetForce Truck Driver Training is partnering with Swift Transportation to provide CDL training and certification at the trucking company’s Mobile, Ala. terminal location.

“Alabama operates heavily on the trucking industry, and right now, it needs more qualified drivers to keep up,” said Tra Williams, president, CEO of FleetForce. “With trucking responsible for moving 75% of all freight into, out of, and through the state, the pressure to build a stronger driver workforce is real and growing. Our partnership with Swift is a direct response to that demand by bringing professional CDL training to Mobile, a critical point for the state’s freight network, where the opportunity to make an immediate impact is the highest.”

According to a joint press release, the partnership will produce newly qualified CDL drivers to meet growing demand for truck drivers in the Southeast, while helping Swift’s existing teams grow within its own operations.

Prioritizing Expansion in the Mobile Market

As the only seaport in Alabama, the partnership comes as Mobile’s position as the 11th-largest deep-water port in the nation grows. According to the Alabama Trucking Association, workers in the state’s trucking industry earn more than $56,000 annually and represent nearly 8% of the state’s total workforce, with wages exceeding $7.6 billion and supporting 37,370 jobs in 2023 alone. With Swift accounting for nearly 8% of the nation’s long-distance specialized freight trucking industry, FleetForce will prioritize expanding its driver workforce beginning in the Mobile market.

“As demand grows for qualified, safe, and productive drivers, Swift is committed to helping build the next generation of transportation professionals,” said Kort Chase, vice president of recruiting at Swift. “We are excited to offer expanded career opportunities for both new and experienced drivers. Our longstanding partnership with FleetForce continues to grow, and we’re proud to provide onsite CDL training at our Mobile location. If you’re ready to earn your CDL and launch a rewarding career with one of the nation’s premier transportation companies, stop by our Mobile terminal and get started today,”

Swift’s First Program Location in Alabama

“With locations currently in Florida, North Carolina and Texas, FleetForce has emerged as a leading CDL training program in the United States,” the release said. “FleetForce instructors offer classroom instruction and hands-on training to prepare future drivers for their Class A, B or C Commercial Driver’s License certifications. Its partnership with Swift marks its first program location in Alabama.”
