BIG SPRING, Texas — Texas law enforcement recovered a load of stolen cargo that it says was valued at $300,000.

Information released by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) stated that a coordinated effort by its personnel in West Texas led to the recovery of a significant stolen cargo shipment valued at more than $300,000.

“After receiving information regarding a trailer reported stolen out of Georgia, DPS Troopers located the truck and trailer at a truck stop in Big Spring,” the release stated.

DPS said that during the investigation, the driver was identified as having outstanding felony warrants out of Georgia and was taken into custody.

Texas DPS Criminal Investigations Division Special Agents assisted with the investigation and discovered approximately 41,083 pounds of stolen copper tubing valued at more than $300,000 inside the trailer.

“The owners of the trailer and copper tubing have been notified, and efforts are underway to return the stolen property,” DPS stated.

“This case highlights the professionalism, teamwork, and investigative efforts of DPS personnel in recovering stolen property, apprehending wanted individuals, and combating criminal activity across state lines,” the release stated.
