Alexandria, Va. — During the Truckload Carriers Association’s (TCA) annual convention, held Feb. 28-March 3 in Orlando, Florida, the association officially elected Mark Seymour, CEO of Ontario, Canada-based Kriska Transportation Group as chairman for 2026-27.

Seymour, who takes over the role from outgoing chairman Karen Smerchek, has decades of experience in the truckload industry and has a deep commitment to safety, innovation and advocacy. As TCA chairman, he will help guide the association’s strategic direction, champion policies that strengthen the truckload sector, and support initiatives that advance professionalism and operational excellence across the industry.

“Mark is a forward-thinking leader who understands both the challenges and the opportunities facing truckload carriers today,” said TCA President Jim Ward. “His experience, integrity, and passion for our industry make him exceptionally well-suited to serve as chairman during this important time.”

In accepting the role, Seymour emphasized collaboration and industry unity.

“I am honored to serve as chairman of TCA,” he said. “Our industry plays a critical role in keeping the economy moving, and I look forward to working with our members and partners to promote safety, advocate for sound public policy, and ensure a strong future for truckload carriers across North America.”

Seymour is the third Canadian to serve as TCA chairman and, he says, he’s “likely not the last.”

“TCA doesn’t know borders; it’s about people committed to continuous improvement, education, and celebrating success,” he said. “As chair, I’ll lead the way I always have — by listening to our members, supporting our experts, honoring the stewardship before me and strengthening what already makes this association great.”

He’s proud to carry on family tradition as head of the Kriska Transportation Group, a company his father started in 1978 with just three trucks.

“I’m not an academic or a politician, I’m a trucker, and I’m proud to call myself a truck driver,” he said, adding that he also knows the importance of teamwork in the industry.

“During my time as chair at TCA I will be using the same principles I’ve used my whole career: Let the subject matter experts do their job and support them where I can,” he continued. “I want to listen to the members. I’m excited about continuing the programs we have in play. As your chair, if you ever have any concerns or questions, I’m all ears.”
